Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), Pacific OCS Regional Office




Doug Boren brings over 20 years of federal experience in a wide range of activities including renewable energy and regulatory oversight to his current position as Regional Supervisor, Office of Strategic Resources, for the Interior Department’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), Pacific Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) Region.  The Mission of BOEM is to manage development of U.S. OCS energy and mineral resources in an environmentally and economically responsible way.  Doug is responsible for managing a diverse team of on-staff specialists to facilitate opportunities for renewable energy leasing on the OCS offshore California, Oregon, Washington and Hawaii.  His team is also responsible for overseeing the existing oil and gas leases offshore California.  

Prior to BOEM, Mr. Boren held positions with the Army Corps of Engineers and the Department of Energy.  Mr. Boren holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences, with an emphasis in marine biology, from Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia.  He is also a combat veteran who served our nation as a member of the U.S. Army’s 75th Ranger Regiment.
